May 15, 2004 Itchapuram police rescues 8 labourers
Eight persons from Srikakulam district forced to work in Rajasthan for making railway sleepers have been freed by the Itchapuram police. The police said two brokers from Orissa allegedly lured 10 youth from Edupuram in Itchapuram mandal offering employment in Mumbai and free lodge and boarding.
However, they were taken to a private engineering company at Kambapu in Chitorgah district of Rajastan. The two youths managed to escaped and reported the matter to the Ichhapuram police and the police went there got the laborers released and made the management pay the wages due to them.
