Srikakulam was picked along with Kakinada, Karimnagar and Nellore to get an FM transmitters as a part of the 10th plan. This was announced by Union minister of Information and Broadcasting S Jaipal Reddy recently during the inauguration of an FM Transmitter at Vijayawada.
