With the commissioning by the General Manager, Neelayya of the wireless in local loop base station Srikakulam on Tuesday, WLL mobile service is now available to the people of the town. Describing it as 'poor man's cell phone', the General Manager said the base station would cover a distance of 15 km for fixed WLL and 5 km for mobile WLL.
Fifty free calls in the urban areas and 75 for the rural areas are being made available. Speaking to the pressmen, he said BSNL's revenue was up by ten percent. He said that a 'phone on phone' service would be introduced in the town.
