Gowthu Latchanna is no more

Eminent Socialist and freedom-fighter, Sardar Gowthu Latchanna died at a private hospial in Visakhapatnam after prolonged illness. He is 97 and is survived by a son and two daughters. Latchanna was born in Sompeta mandal and was associated with Gandhiji during the freedom struggle. Later he fought for the Andhra Pradesh statehood and once the state formation is done, he fought for the cause of the farmers and the labour-class. He is always associated with people's struggles. Latchanna served jailed in many occasion when representing the people.
The body of the leader was brought to his home town Sompeta. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy mourned at the death of Latchanna. In his message, he said that the state lost a veteran politician. Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Nara Chandrababu Naidu and other senior leaders and members of the party played homage to the social fighter at Sompeta.
