Sanctioned Rs.40 cores for relief and operations
The Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy during his visit to Srikakulam has sanctioned Rs.40 crores for flood relief in the district. He directed the District Collector V N Vishnu to take all necessary measures immediately to alleviate the plight of those affected by the floods. Speaking a flood review meeting on Saturday, he said top priority would be given to agriculture and then housing. He instantly instructed the agriculture department officials to identify the farmers who incurred losses and supply seeds to them at subsidy. He said that nearly 22,000 people were given shelter in 67 relief camps through the district and 5573 families were evacuated. When the Srikakulam MP Yerram Naidu disputed the claim, the Chief Minister asked him not to politicize the issue.
