Major fire destroys 300 huts

In a major fire accident, nearly 300 thatched houses were reduced to ashes at Chillapeta Rajam village in Ranasthalam mandal on Monday. Initial estimates put the loss at Rs.1 crore. The fire, which broke out when most of the people wee busy in the fields attending to harvest work made nearly 1000 homeless. The District Collector, A.Koteswararao visited the village and announced relief measures.
