Sodomised student's mother dies
The State Human Rights Commission began its probe in the barbaric incident of sodomy at GMR IT College at Rajam, another tragedy hit the family of the victim with his mother passing away on Saturday evening. According to sources she hanged herself unable bear the humiliation and the police maintained that she had been in a state of total shock for the last three days and succumbed to massive heart attack. SHRC Secretary S Chellappa conducted an inquiry into the incident. He spoke to the college management, witnesses, the victim and his father a few laboratory technician at Salur. He recorded the statement concerned while expressing displeasure over the college management's attempt to wash its hands of the matter on the ground that the incident had occurred outside the college campus. He inspected the room where the victim was brutalized. Speaking to media, Chellappa said that the disgraceful incident reflected the abnormal behaviour of the accused. He said he would submit his report soon and the accused would be brought to book.
