Repairs to canal taken up at Rs. 1.6 crores
The District Collector, VN Vishnu formally releasing water into the Left Main Canal of the Vamsadara project at Gotta Barrage on Friday said that the entire ayacut of 1.48 lakh acres under the LMC would get water this kharif season. He said that the repairs to the canal has been completed with an estimated cost of Rs. 1.60 crore. He said that the water into the Right Main Canal would be released in the next month He said there was no shortage of funds for the Stage II of the Vamsadara project. He added that the government had alloted Rs. 109 crores for land acquisition and implementation of RR package for the Stage II of the project. The District Collector said that the villagers whose lands would have to be acquired for the project would be vacated and rehabilitation first, he said, adding that execution of works of colonies where evacuees would be rehabilitated would be carried out by the government agencies.
