Police arrests Damodar who threw acid on a girl

Magistrate remands accused in judicial custody till November 16

It may be recalled that one Ch Damodar, the lecturer who threw acid on his former student, Kalpana was arrested on Friday and produced before the Itchapuram in charge magistrate on Sunday.

The magistrate remanded the accused to judicial custody till November 16 and was shifted to Narasannapeta sub jail. Damodar had been obsessed with the girl and had been pestering her to marry him for the past six years. When she rejected his proposal, he threw acid on her two days ago while she was travelling in an auto rickshaw.

A special police team led by Police Sub Inspector CV Ramana apprehended Damodar from his relative's house at Kancharapalem in Visakhapatnam and the police has registered a case under Sections 341 and 326 of IPC against him.
