Five persons drowned; Six persons missing
A country made boat carrying 40 persons capsized in Nagavali river near Rushing village in Vangara mandal on Friday killing four women and a five year old girl while six persons reportedly missing. The tragedy occurred when the country made boat was ferrying people to Nadupuru to attend a family function. The boat capsized when it hit a palm tree and submerged in the waters. Most of the male passengers managed to swim to safety while the fate of six women and children were not known. Nearly six women including children are said to be missing. Five bodies of the dead have been identified. Expert swimmers have been deployed for tracing the missing persons. The Joint Collector, K Bhaskar and RDO, PMJ Babu rushed to the spot after learning the mishap and monitoring the situation.
