Senior Congress leaders stays away from participation
Member of Parliament from Kadapa, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has controversial resumed his Oddarpu Yatra from Itchapuram region of Srikakulam district located at the Andhra Pradesh - Orissa border . As exected, senior Congress leaders and party MLAs and MPs from the region did not participate in the yatra in order to not fall in the eyes of top party leaders. It may be recalled the Oodarpu yatra was undertaken by Jagan Mohan Reddy in order to meet and console the family members who died or committed suicide in September 2009 on hearing the news of the death of his father and the then Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The program became controversial when the tour was received with mixed reaction in the Congress party. Jagan, in a way, has set aside the suggestion made by Ms. Sonia Gandhi of brining all the bereaved families at one place and console them. It came as a blessing in disguise for the senior congress leaders, MLAs and MPs from the region since they came up with an excuse that they are participating in the birth anniversary function of Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy. As many as 86 of 156 Coongress MLAs bunked from the participation in the tour.
