Sexually Transmitted Infections
As of 2012, Srikakulam has been gaining the dubious distinction of topping the charts of sexually transmitted infections (STI). The incidence of STI is higher than the state average in Srikakulam, Guntur and Krishna. The prevalence is between 5 and 10%, while the average in the state is 5% down from 18% in 2011-12 compared to 2007-08.
The high prevalence of STI in Srikakulam might be due to it being a border district that has a migrating population.
