Former TDP MLA Gunda Appalasuraynarayana on Wednesday alleged that the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy was not accepting the resignation submitted by Roads & Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao because of lobbying of Rajya Sabha Member KVP Ramachandrarao in New Delhi. He said that KVP was striving hard to protect Dharmana despite his involvement in many scams including illegal allocation of land to Vanpic. In a media conference, he said that the CBI could not arrest Dharmana due to KVP's lobbying and demanded the investigating agency to arrest him immediately.

FDI in retail sector will benefit MNCs says MLC Sharma
Senior CPI(M) leader and MLC MVS Sharma on Tuesday said that the UPA government policies such as FDI in retail sector would benefit the Multi-National Companies leading to loss of employment to 20 lakh people. Addressing workers of various industries at SAMKRG Pistons premises, he said that the prices of essential goods would go up further with the removal subsidies on diesel, petrol and LPG.

Former MLA PJ Amurtha Kumari passed away
Former MLA PJ Amurtha Kumari, passed away today at the Mahatma Gandhi Cancer hospital in Visakhapatnam. She was 54. Amruta Kumari has been battling with illness for the past few days. Amruta Kumari was a two-time MLA representing Palakonda constituency in Srikakulam. She was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Congress ticket and served her first term during 1989-94. In 1994, she was reelected as an Independent candidate. Amruta Kumari served as the SC committee president in the Assembly.

She is survived by two daughters and a son. The elder daughter Lavanya is presently working as Bank Manager in Pune while the younger daughter Soujanya is working as a doctor in Kakinada.

Her son Ravi Chaitanya is now in active politics. She was elected as MLA from Congress party ticket in 1989, 1999 she got elected as an independent candidate and in 2009 she unsuccessfully contested as an Independent candidate.
